Today's Questionable Content mentions a movie about fonts, Helvetica. I ended up looking it up because it sounded interesting to me, and the whole thing is about the way that fonts have an impact on people.

And they do.

It made me laugh because when my dad's friend set up our internet connection for us, he installed ICQ on our computer and insisted that it was the best thing on the internet and "now we can talk. I added myself to your list." Because that wasn't the least bit creepy or anything.

The guy used comic sans ms for everything. He was in his fifties.

Don't get me wrong, it can be a cute font sometimes. Bold and in dark purple? No. Never.

Does anybody else have experiences like this?

I don't really get the papyrus hate, either. And I used to use comic sans ms. It's just that I don't think certain fonts can be taken seriously, I guess. Like, you wouldn't submit an English term paper if it was written in wingdings. :)

LOL it would be interesting to try though, wouldn't it? Maybe as an April Fool's joke.

Nah, I'd do the same. Or maybe that means I'm a wuss, too.
